Couponing

With the economy like it is, we all need to pinch every penny we can get.  I was a faithful couponer back when my kid's dad was in college.  Living off G.I. Bill checks with two children was not very easy.  Back in the mid 1980s, I average about $50 savings every two weeks. It was a great feeling watching the coupons coming off my total. :-)

Jump ahead to 2011 and you find me a blogger, a wonderful (new) husband, 4 grown children and 5 grandchildren.  When the economy went downhill in January 2009, my husband lost his job as a television director, producer, editor and videographer.  Television shows need sponsors to pay the networks for air time, to pay the on-air talent and to pay the people behind the scene.  Advertising was the first to go when the small companies had to tighten their belt.  That left him unemployed for 4 months. When he did find a job, it was in a new field with a 60% pay decrease. On the Friday before he started his new job on Monday, I walked out of my office for the last time.  Fibromyalgia took my career from me. Medical retirement took 50% of my pay.

As you can see, we really need to pinch pennies.  This page of my blog will show my progress in locating coupons and great deals at the grocery store. If you have any suggestions,  suggestions for couponing web sites or just want to say hello, I look forward to reading your comments.
